Capsicum chinense 'Trinidad Perfume'
While Habanero peppers are renowned for their extreme heat, this variety has no heat at all but retains the characteristic Habanero flavor.
Natural habitat and growing conditions:Native to Central America and the Caribbean, these perennial pepper plants prefer bright light, warm conditions, and regular water.
Notes of interest:
- The Dutch botanist Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin named this species of pepper chinense in 1776 because he incorrectly believed it originated in China. All Capsicum species originated in the Americas.
- If given constant light and warmth, Habanero plants will grow into small shrubs and can live many years.
